Websites, web apps and platforms
In our modern days, why bother developing and designing a website from scratch when you can use one of the many free website builder or AI systems that are available out there?
Well, that depends on what you want.
If your goal is to see if a basic prototype of your online idea attracts people, we even recommend a free builder and / or AI system to draft a minimum viable product.
Once you then notice that your idea matures and you need platform features, user profiles, marketing campaigns, accurate usage analytics, automated payment flows and more... Still stick to the free tools?
From upon that moment, we are generally happy to step in and develop precisely what you need.
The combination of free tools without the need to code appears to be the easy way upfront, but it generally does not pay off in the long run. Even if we include artificial intelligence in this equation.
For a quick discussion regarding AI, see our page about our AI-Services.
Let's talk about an example to illustrate this:
Imagine a website that is managed by a company XYZ. No employee of XYZ has a technical background; none of them can program.
XYZ thus decides to use a sum of free drag & drop tools to build your website. These tools were not developed by XYZ, but their combination always worked well for other websites they manage.
Then, on a beautiful Friday evening, an unexpected problem shows up : XYZ installed a free tool (A) which conflicts with another free tool (B) that already runs on your website. As XYZ did not develop the tools (A) and (B) themselves, it takes them days to eliminate the problem.
XYZ did not even know that the reason was a conflict between tools (A) and (B).
To fix it, XYZs employees desperately overloaded their AI chatbots with prompts to identify the problem.
Once one of their chatbots appeared to find the problem and proposed a fix, the problem was gone!
But wait: did that chatbot know that the tools (C), (D) end (E) were already installed on the website?
What if the proposed solution introduced conflicts with these?
And by the way, who paid for their AI usage and the troubleshooting employees?
Another thing is that software is not a constant product - it must get updated regularly for security, performance and other reasons.
Consequently, the more you rely on foreign tools, the more you risk that an update of one foreign tool will introduce problems within another one. Which brings us back to the above-mentioned example.
And in case you do not know anything about the code of any of the conflicting tools, good luck.
Website bugs must be fixed as fast as possible, to avoid that you unnecessarily lose money.
The likelihood of this increases drastically if the code is well-known by the people who manage the website.
Software bugs and problems should generally be detected before they make it into your productive system, which is our methodology.
There are always exceptions. But the above-mentioned is what we have already seen enough times.
It should not be interpreted that absolutely everything must be developed from scratch, of course not. There are good tools out there, and we happily integrate the ones you wish into your system.
But it is about knowing what should be developed from scratch and what not. What is worth paying for and what not.
Without proper technical expertise, it is not possible to judge this accurately.
